Hi..I have been able to play Age of Empires...and all of a
sudden i get an error msg when i try to open the game
saying that my video card or driver might not be
compatible with directdraw.....why? It worked
yesterday...please help

Hey
This usually happens because the Cryptographic service is not running or a
catalog file within c:\windows\system32\catroot2 has become corrupt. Try
following the steps at:
http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/windowsxp/sp1/common.htm#crypt
If that's doesn't work post back, there are a couple of other things we can
try though usually the steps I show on the site does the trick.

Please disregard the last reply from me on this thread, I sent the wrong
details (that one was intended for the post above yours).

If you go to start > run and type dxdiag ,on the display tab is direct draw
shown as being enabled/disabled/not available? If you can enable it, if it
says unavailable check in Display properties (go to the settings tab >
advanced button and select the troubleshooting tab) that the hardware
acceleration slider is set to maximum. If you still have problems attempt to
reinstall the graphics card drivers that came with your machine or download
a newer version from the manufactures website.
