I am trying to unistall windows xp so I can go back to my Me program. I have reinstalled xp but still can't find anywhere in my programs or add and remove to uninstall it. I tried putting in my xp cd to find a unistall and can't. I did a search for windows xp uninstall and nothing there. I would like to uninstall it then reinstall my recovery disk that came with my Gateway so then I can reinstall xp. What I am trying to do is really clean it up and start from the beginning when I received my computer. Can anyone help me ...........Thank You

There are several program to buy that will take everything off of your hard drive so you can start like new. One is Wipe Drive.

Insert the XP cd and follow instructions starting with formatting. You may
also have to change the boot sequence in BIOS to boot from the cd.

Using your recovery disk should reformatt and reinstall XP , making it just
like it was when you opened up the box. Jym

Deborah, I have never used ME, so my suggestion here is based on using XP.

To do a clean install of XP on a computer which already has an operating
system -- of any sort -- on it, the procedure requires the occupied
partition to be cleared, thereby converting it to an unpartitioned space,
assigning (by specifying a value in MB) part or whole of this space to form
a new partition, creating (by giving an affirmation) this new partition, and
finally, after formatting, loading XP onto it. In practice, in the actual
setting up procedure, soon after pressing F8 (accepting the user agreement),
there appears a menu providing a choice of three options:
(1) To set up XP on selected item -- Press [Enter]
(2) To create partition in the unpartitioned space -- [C]
(3) To delete the selected partition -- [D]
You can see the correct sequence of steps to take is the reverse: (3), (2),
then
(1). Hence, the setup procedure includes the elimination of the incumbent
OS; there is no separate, standalone step to do that.

To come back to your ME then, replace XP with ME in the above paragraph.

That is true in the case of single partition, as assumed in the above
narration. In the case of a duel boot, the procedure is even simpler:
Boot to the alternative partition on the same disk, [Start] > Rt. click [My
Computer] > [Manage] > [Disk Management] > Rt.click the partition to be
worked on > [Delete].
