how to uninstall windows xp pro

The computer I have is second hand (Toshiba laptop), it
came with xp installed which went wrong , a friend
reinstalled xp on a trial disc, I now have the xp disc to
install but cannot uninstall the trial xp,to make room, as
the uninstall has been deactivated by my friend previous
actions, any help would be received greatfully

If you have a legal Windows XP disc you can boot from it
and 1) remove the existing partition, 2) recreate a
partition where the old one was, 3) install Windows. If
you have not done this before or are nervous about it,
find a friend to help you.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
