I cannot click on an address in an e mail and have it
open IE and go to the web site.
I tried all the suggestions in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=281679
without any luck. I, therefore, want to uninstall and
then reinstall Inernet Explorer 6 as suggested.

When I look in control panel Add/Remove programs I don't
see IE6. I see Internet Explorer Q824145 and Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6 SP1.

How should I proceed to solve my problem?

Internet Explorer repair is not an option for the version that shipped with
the XP OS in a clean or full install.

It may be an option in and upgrade install from a win9x OS in add/remove
programs.

Unchecking IE in the add/remove components in XP does not uninstall IE, it
only deletes the IE icons.

You can reinstall IE using the following command line in the run dialog:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\Inf\ie.inf

The XP cd may be needed for a re-install of IE.

( watch the word wrap, there is a space between 132 and % )

If URLs in your e-mails within OE aren't clicking, it can be easily fixed.

You may want to try re-registering a one of IE's dlls (as OE uses those
dll's for the hyperlink functions)

Follow these instructions
1. Open IE/Tools/Options./Program tab/Click 'Reset web settings' button,
then close IE
2. Goto Start/Run/type regsvr32 urlmon.dll
3. Reboot
