How to undo the auto click function

I just bought a laptop w/ window xp home edition
installed. Every so often when i just rest the pointer on
a button or a link on the web, windows would auto click
it. How do you turn this function off? Thanks.

Depends on the mouse software, see Mouse Control Panel.
For intellimouse, click on Activities, then disable the ClickLock
function.
