How to turn off "virus" warnings in Outlook XP?

Hello,

I recently upgraded to Outlook XP. When my PDA synchronisation software
starts digging into the
Outlook XP files, Outlook groans and gives out a message saying "another
program is attempting to access Outlook data - this may be a virus" then
interrupts the synching. How can I stop Outlook from doing this and allow
synching to run uninterrupted as in Outlook 2000?

This is a repost - my first post did not appear on my server - sorry to
those who have already seen it.

This questions has been asked and answered several times in the last couple
of days. SEARCH for the answer.

Update your synch software so it doesn't fire the security prompts.
Most synch software makers updated their software years ago.

Thanks for the reply but don't you think it advanatageous for Microsoft that
they ensure backward compatability? How difficult would it be to insert a
fix to turn off this "feature"? A couple of lines of code? Personally, I
find my PDA (a Psion 5mx) far more useful, fast and stable than any
Microsoft product and I would sooner change my PC than my PDA.

Microsoft is not going to change the security settings, and vendors
have been aware of the problem since Outlook 2000 SP2.

No one is saying to get rid of your PDA, but most makers of synch
software update their software for Outlook's settings and for new
versions of Outlook as they come out. See if your vendor has new
software or see what other software is compatible with your PDA.

I am a little new at this but I am getting a "shutdown" message when I go online with internet explorer. I do have XP but now sure how to stop the shutdown or download a repair for it. Can you advise me? I would really appreciate all or any help you can provide.
Thank you

Post your question, IE version and whatever errors you are getting in
an IE newsgroup. You are more likely to get a good answer than here in
an Outlook group.

www.symantec.com

When the computer starts to shutdown,

Click your start button, Run, and type
shutdown -a
Press Enter / return

You may have been infected by the Blaster worm.
