When creating a document then instead of doing a save the client hits the "X"
in the upper right corner to exit and the unit beeps and asks if they want to
save the file. I just had to reinstall all of the software on the unit which
was Windows XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 amoung other applications. They say
that it did not do this before the system had the software reloaded. Any
ideas? I have turned off the assistant thinking that he might be the problem.

1. Click Start - Control Panel
2. Open Sound and Audio Devices
3. Click Sounds tab
4. From the Programs Event list select "Exclamation"
5. From the "Sounds:" list set it to None

Hope this help, let us know!

This is normal behaviour - if anything has been added to the document.
However, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=325620
If that is not the issue, try renaming the client's normal.dot file to
normal.old which will allow Word to build a new one.
Note You cannot share the Normal.dot file among multiple users in Word
