How to transfer recording from audio cassette to CD?

How do I go about transferring recording from audio cassette in my stero to a CD in CD writer in my computer
What kind of special software or hardware is required
I'd appreciate any help, thank you in advance, AdamW

I have Roxio EZ CD Creator 6, which does a pretty good job, but there are
others out there. I have my cassette playback machine running into a low
cost pre-amp and the pre-amp output is connected to the input of my sound
card with a Y connector.

It took some trial and error in the beginning and I ended up with a few
'coasters', but don't get discouraged, it can be done!
