Can anyone tell me how to get my Outlook Epress mail
folders from my old computer, running Windows 98, to the
new one, running Windows XP Professional? My 17 year old
son has been able to move all of my computer files except
these. I have Outlook Express on the new computer, and
can send and receive mail, just can't transfer my saved
mail to it. Why does it not work the same as transferring
other files?

Thanks so much for any help!

I managed to do this recently - it went something like this:

On your old machine, using windows explorer, you need to locate the outlook
files. I found them in a folder called UserData. In a subdirectory of that
folder you will find email files - the folder will have a long meaningless
alphanumeric name. If you look at this folder, you should find files within
it with names you recognise as your personal folders, with dbx suffixes.

Copy the entire folder (the one with the unintelligible name) and paste it
somewhere (desktop will do for now) on your new machine, using whatever
means available (network connection / pen drive / CD etc). Then from within
Outlook express on the new machine, click file, import, messages and
navigate to the file you saved on your desktop.

I hope this helps
