I have a new PC and want to transfer my data files from my old computer
using the USB ports. Both PCs use XP as the operating system. How is this
done?

UNLESS I'm missing something, you simply want to trasnfer Files???

Try using the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard". It's in the Accessories Menu
Item. This will transfer whatever you want to the new PC.

IF it's just data that you want to transfer, why not just do it via the network
(assuming you've set one up)? Just share the OLD dirs and drag and drop.

Hi George,

Establish a direct connection between the two PCs with Cross over Cable, then
go to the all programs - Accessories - System Tools - Files and Settings
Transfer wizards and it depends on your Files Size.
Hope this helps if n't please write back to the group

Do the PCs have network adaptors? If so use a cat5 crossover cable
instead of trying to do it wit USB, it will be much faster and cheaper
than a USB cable to connect the two that way. Then as another poster
said, use the "FAST" utility.
