How do I tell if i am running 32 bit or 64 bit windows xp?

Install the 32 one. I doubt very very very much you're running anything
64bit.

But if you want to check for sure:
Start > Run > type in "regedit" - no quotes > hit Enter
Navigate to this key by expanding the appropriate nodes:

Manager\Environment\PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE
if the value is x86 then you are running 32-bit.

Right click on MY COMPUTER. Under the GENERAL tab the words "64 bit" will be
displayed if it is the 64 bit version. The number of bits will NOT be
displayed at all if it is the 32 bit version.
