How to synchronize a small notebook to a desktop like a PocketPC to a desktop

Dear friends:

I bought a little and small Notebook to replace my old HandheldPC
running Windows CE. The idea is to have the same benefits as the old
WinCE machine, but running Windows XP.

How to synchronize a small notebook to a desktop like a PocketPC to a
desktop?

Are there products to do that, similar to Microsoft ActiveSync?

Any hint?
