Yes, in a roundabout way but a receipt will still go back to the sender.
Turn off marking items as read in preview pane or when changing item. Use
the preview pane but do not mark the message as read. IThen delete the
mail. And watch the hilarity ensue. This will send the sender a "message
was deleted without being read" receipt.
I do this when I receive read receipts from cow-orkers - only my managers
get to send me read receipts, and sometimes I don't send them receipts
either, depending on the mail.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, speed asked:

| Is there a way a user can prevent the read notification requests from
| being sent back to the sender?

| Thanks in advance
