How to stop PP from resizing embedded Excel

Window 2000, Office 2003.

I insert an Excel Object so I can do math and chart
together.

When I go into the embedded object to change a cell or two
or move to tab 2 where data is and go back to chart tab
which is just on a tab with rows and columns, PowerPoint
changes which columns are viewed and loses some rows and
columns.

It is a pain to always resize it and then sometimes the
resize doesn't hold after I get off the object.
HELP.

Are you using a spreadsheet created in Excel 2000 in a PowerPoint 2003
presentation? If so, open your spreadsheet in Excel 2003 and save it. Then
insert it in the presentation.

The file may have been created in Ex00 and imported the
entire file into PP.

I tried what you suggested with one excel file and
inserted object excel and browsed and grabbed the file
needed. It seems to work good for a minute.

The chart is in a tab (object in a tab) not created on a
new sheet.

After moving to another area where data for graph is it
blew up large and you can't see half the chart when you go
back home (A1). Also if I moved to another tab in the
excel file it expanded where other data was stored it
expanded. It would only show a small amount of needed
columns/or rows.

In order to see what I need I have to resize object in
Power Point, but as soon as I go in to update data it
expands again.so far on my 2 minute test. Just doesn't
work.

We don't want it in there as a picture pasted from Excel -
other users can't update data and have chart update and we
don't want anything liked because if someone else has to
use they may not have source file etc.

It is not a chart that can be done in PowerPoint and Excel
gives us the chart and other data we can have easily
update in Excel where PP cannot. Such as line chart for
12 months for units and $ with cost per unit as a grid
below period numbers. Excel will feed both chart and grid
below by pulling from data tab.

If I am not clear let me know so I can make it clearer,
this effects a handful of slides.

Try changing the Action Setting from Edit to Open. It will open the file in
Excel instead of the box within the presentation.

Glenna,
Seems to be working good after testing a few things. Will
be doing many more slides on major presentation. I will
let you know if I get stuck.

Thanks a bunch.
