Hi, after installing SP2 my Outlook Express starts automatically whenever XP
boots up... is there a way to disable that I've tried looking at the
registry and startup folder with no luck...

Thanks,

Jules

If you have used msconfig and the registry and can't find an entry for
OE, then something else must be starting that is calling OE. What does
a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not earlier
than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show?

I have ZA Pro and NAV 2004 kept up to date at all times, they don't show
anything suspicious, it is only after installing SP2 that OE starts auto
starting, it is very odd...

Cheers,

I have installed SP2 on approximately 100 machines by now and none of
them exhibit that behavior. That doesn't invalidate your experience,
but it does indicate that there is something on your machine that is
calling OE. Try doing a clean boot to help you in Sherlocking this:

Sorry to bring back such an old post....
but I've had exactly the same experience on a fairly new XP pro
machine.
Installed SP2 and all of a sudden the default mail client starts for
each
user.
I've searched all over the place trying to find what starts it.
I've even tried using HiJackThis but it doesn't pop up anywhere there.
Has anyone else experienced this?!
It's driving me nuts!
