reinstall xp. i tried to search for fdisk to no avail.
can some one help please.....

Fdisk will not work with XP unless your file system is Fat32. If your system
came with XP preinstalled, the file system is most likely NTFS. The XP
installation cd is bootable. You have to set your system to boot from the CD
in the system bios. Once that's done, just follow the on screen
instructions. Check your system documentation on how to enter your system
bios.

FDISK works, you use it to delete the non-dos partition. You can then create
a new dos partition, but it is easier to do everything from booting XP and
doing all the disk management from setup.
You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
