How to size a tiled tiff file ?

I want to know the size (width, height in mm) of a raster image (at least in
the case when they are well defined)

I've been constructing a bitmap object from the file but I need to handle
tiled tiff which isn't supported by bitmap.

Suggestions for a workround anyone?

Get or write a TIFF library.
