How to share Outlook Calendar and Contacts from Desktop to Laptop

Is there any straightforward easy way or ideally automated way to share
Outlook Calendar and Contact info from a Desktop Computer to a Laptop so that
when I am on the road I can still have my latest contacts and calendar
events. Exporting and importing is much too messy and difficult. This desired
method would ideally be bi-directional so that changes made while on the road
on the laptop could be transfered back to the desktop computer upon return.
