Hi there,

I have just bought a new pc with windows XP-Pro. At home
I am having an ADSL internet connection which is also
used by my wife, who has a laptop with windows 98 on it.
Can I set us up as a network and how do I do this? I used
the network setup wizard, but I had no luck, because I
got a message stating that I was not allowed to access
this network.

Can anyone help please?

Me as well. I have spend a full day trying to get my 2 computers to network.
The network troubleshooter keeps bringing up malicious code warnings.
Everything seems to be correct but neither computer can see the other.
I'm at a complete loss.

Have you got a cross-over cable or a hub (or switch) or o rooter ?

I have a 2PCs LAN working fine, with a cross-over cable.
But possibly the best solution is to use a switch or rooter. You can add
more PCs later.
BTW, there are a lot of people in this very newsgroup, with messages about
homenet. Just take a look.

Regards.
