I replaced my boot disk and the new drive comes up as
F:... How do I change it to c:?

Right click on My Computer, click Manage, click Disk Management, right
click on the F: drive and click Change Drive Letter and change it to C:

If you installed Windows on F: already, then reinstall it properly. Just
search any hardware/setup group for the right procedure in Dave Patrick's
hints.

If Windows works fine and all the applications are running, then leave it alone.

Third party utilities and lots of time will get you to where you want to be: do you really need to waste the time, given everything is running fine.

If not go ahead and buy Partition Magic and Drive Image and read how to create, merge, move and image partitions: very carefully.

You cannot reassign the System Drive [now F in your case] to another drive letter [C as you would want] using a Windows XP utility. The Operating System prevents this as it is a process which effectively renders the system useless - all the file locations / associations etc in registry will refer to 'F' as the drive letter and reassignment of F to C will not get registry to make automatically this change. Thus even if you could change the drive letter your system would fail to load.

The reason for wanting to set it to c: is I have a
application that will not load.... I double click the
setup utility, which used to install it when I had a c:
system drive, I get the hour glass and then nothing
happens. I suspect that they have a hardcoded "c:"
somewhere in the setup utility... Just a guess.

Thanks for the comments. It sounds to me like the easiest
way, it to start from scratch and reinstall the o/s

Dave has a standard reply and posts it twice per day. Search in
win2000.setup NG. Briefly you have to delete F: partition during setup,
interrupt setup, and start over.
