I can understand how difficult it would be to maintain such large
distributions lists. Why not create an Outlook rule that automatically
deletes messages that contain "out of office" then you'd never have to
see them. Most don't maintain such large distribution lists and I like
to know when someone is gone - that way I know they just aren't
avoiding me. <g> (Actually, for those who do tend to send timely
responses when they are OOF knowing about it is helpful)
As for the need to create a list of approved senders, again, I'm sure
it's aggravating for you but I can easily see the need. I use three
different spam filters and I have a slew of rules but I still have to
sort through over 200 spam emails per day that get past the filters.
Spam is also something to think about (other than they are the reason
behind using an approved sender list!), if you do send an OOF to
everyone who sends you an email you're also sending confirmation to
spammers that your email address is valid.
