How to see new messages in taskbar again

Somehow I have turned off the feature of Outlook that shows a little envelope
in the taskbar when you have new messages in Outlook. Not sure how I turned
it off. When I right-click on the Outlook Icon, the "Show New Desktop Mail
Alert" is checked, but I still am not seeing the little envelope when I have
new mail.

Does anyone know how I can get the little envelope again?

If you're using Windows XP, right-click on the taskbar and choose
Properties. hen click Customize. Find the "You have new unopened items"
icon and change its behavior to "Always show". Click OK. Check "Lock the
taskbar" and click OK. If you don't lock the taskbar, I have found that the
behavior can revert to "Hide when inactive".
