I have a few word documents that I will like to section off parts of it and
protect them. The areas I don't want protected I would like to leave for
comments/text to be enter.
I know how to protect the whole form but it doesn't allow me to make
entries. I notice how to section off but it requires I still protect the
form. Which does not allow me to enter text in areas I don't want protected.

Hi Paco,

Use the Insert > Break dialog and insert a section break (new page or
continuous) to separate areas that will be protected from those that won't.

Then use the Tools > Protect Document dialog. When you select protection for
forms, the Sections button becomes active (only if the document has more
than one section). Click it and uncheck the sections you don't want to
protect.

There will still be some functions that won't work even in unprotected
sections -- for example, spell checking. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm for a macro to
work around that.
