Is there any easy way to schedule the time of day at which I want the
Recycle Bin to be automatically emptied?

Failing that, is there any way I can set things up so that the Recycle
Bin is automatically emptied when the machine boots up?

How intriguing. I thought there was an option to set up the recycle bin
to empty automatically when you shut down; maybe that was a different OS (I
have used older versions of Windows, Unix, and Linux...) I can't find any
such thing built in to Windows XP. You CAN set up XP to disable (don't even
use) the recycle bin ... in which case anything you delete will just be
gone. (As if! If you have an undelete tool you could still recover it as
long as you immediately realize your mistake...)
Otherwise:
I see an older tool that was set up to do this in Windows 95 or 98, if
you have Visual Basic... XP is supposed to understand those commands, I
think. You could try:

I also see a freeware utility called RecycleNOW that is supposed to do
what you want. Says it can be set up through task scheduler. There isn't
much info about what OS it was built for. Find it at:

Hope one of these 3 ideas will help out.
