How to scan document to be saved in same format as scanned?

I have a all in one hp officejet 7110, in trying to scan a text document and
save to a pdf for attachment to an email, the text in the document is always
garbled. I need to know if there is a particular setting or what am I doing
wrong?
 
You have posted this to a newsgroup for Microsoft Access, the database
product. Your post does not appear to be related to databases in MS Access.

I suggest you consult your hardware manual or help files.
