How to save to Desktop instead of My Documents

Is there a way to make my default path when I do a "save as" to my
desktop instead of to My Documents?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Value Name: Download Directory
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: Path\to\the\folder

Path\to\the\folder for example, %userprofile%\Desktop
or
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop

I believe that if Download Directory does not exist in the above key Save As
will default to your Desktop.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I should've been a little more
specific (sorry). I would like the default path to be to my desktop when I
save a Word document. Right now it always defaults to My Documents. I
take a lot of screen shots and notes in Word for work and saving to my
desktop allows me to place my screen shots in their respective account
folders at the end of my day.

Try this.

Open MS Word | Click Tools | Click Options | Click the File Locations tab |

Under file types click on Documents to highlight it.
Click the Modify button.
Use the Places bar and/or the Look in box to navigate the location you want.
Since you want your Desktop, click on the Desktop icon in the Places bar (on
the left).
Click OK when done and note the path under File types\Documents.
It should look something like: C:\...\Your Name\Desktop
Close Options.

Thanks Wesley! That worked great for Word which is what I really needed it
for but was curious why it would not work for Outlook. There is no "file
locations" in Outlook and although I specified "Desktop" as my "save as"
location, when I restart Outlook it defaults back to My Documents unlike
Word. But all in all it works fine for Word which is what I was asking
for. Thanks to all that replied!! You guys are the best!!
