How to repeat value from previous record?

I remember that I once heard about a shortcut key combination that you could
use to repeat the value from the same field on the previous record when you
had focus in a field in the new record. This could be nice to use when you
for example are registrating values in a table. One keystroke and the value
from the field above would be copied. Does anyone know what kind of key I
could use?
