I accidentally installed the wrong version of Win XP. I thought it was an upgrade version
and it was an OEM version. I have a partitioned drive so XP is installed on D drive, Win
98 is on C drive. How can I safely remove XP without effecting 98.

My PC runs so slow now and keeps playing up, freezing and lots of blue screens so I hope
removing XP without having to reformat the hard drive will do it for me.

Any help REALLY appreciated!!!

That was not at all helpful!

The truth is always helpful.
some of us are quite happy with 98 and I did not ask how to remove 98

Like I said, if you get rid of 98 and upgrade to XP, you will wonder what
you ever saw in 98. I *am* trying to help you.

Except I DO NOT want to use XP

Anyone able to offer some constructive help here for me please?

Normally, assuming Win9x is installed to the C: drive, you'd just
have to boot from your Win98/Me startup diskette, type "SYS C:." Then
delete C:\NTLDR, C:\NTDETECT.COM, C:\BOOT.INI, C:\BOOTSEC.DOS, and
C:\PAGEFILE.SYS. Delete or reformat the WinXP directory/partition, as
applicable. Remove the startup diskette and reboot.

Obviously "W E B GU R L" experienced problems with XP and may wish to stay
with Win98 until such problems are resolved. Either way, it's their choice.
