I just installed a second hard drive on my new Compaq presario
sr1130nx and I have found out the hard way that its possible to have
two windows systems on my computer, one for each hard drive. One has
Wins xp home and the older one has pro. I would like to remove the
windows xp pro since the hp guy said that the computer is formulated
for xp home, I don't have a problem with that but I was wondering if
there is a safe way to remove the windows xp pro from the old 40 gig
hard drive? It takes up a lot of room on the HD and sometimes it
would boot to that hard drive first which freeks me out seeing my old
setup on this new computer. I ordered a install disk from them for
windows xp home, (not sure why they don't put in with system) but
while I am waiting I thought I might get some thoughts on this. I
might take my pictures and music and then re-format it is one thought
I had.

Thanks in advance.

Vile,

If your system is booting up to one drive and after restarting the system it
boots up to the other drive you've got a potential mess. Big time problems
as whatever was installed on one drive may not be on the other, programs,
registry entries and such. If so I'm even surprised your system is running.

Please elaborate further on your situation, are you running RAID, if not do
you have the bios set up so that it can only boot to the drive that needs to
be booted?

Well it seems to be starting only in the new drive now. Not sure what
raid is. Should I remove windows somehow from that drive? I just
want it to be a drive for space for pics and music only.
