Greetings Sandra,

To fully remove Windows Messenger 4.x, close down Messenger if it's running (right click the
messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start
button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

I am desperate to get it off my computer too. I've
uninstalled it. I've disabled it. Still this cockroach
keeps coming back!

I want it off, and I want it off now. How do I do this?

Will I still be able to access Hotmail and MSN home page
if I uninstall Messenger. Are there any adverse impacts
from deleting Messenger. I have XP , but never use
Messenger. I have upgrade alert, but it says that if I
upgrade " some features of MSN Explorer may not work " -
very comforting and not worth the risk.
