Just got through installing SP1 or 1a or whatever plus a pile of security
fixes from Microsoft.

While installing I said yes to having the installation back up whatever
files. Since the installation seems to have succeeded, is there a way to
remove the backup files?

Thanks

Hi,

Set folder options/view to see hidden and system files.

Open Windows Explorer to C:\Windows, locate the
$NtUninstallServicePackfiles$ ( a compressed folder that should show in
blue) and delete it.

Go to the Control Panel/Add & Remove and select the Service Pack for
removal, you will get an error message and an offer to remove it from the
program listings.

Same procedure can be used for removing the hotfix backups
($NtUninstallQxxxxxx$) once you are confident the update is working for you.
