How to recover password from an inactive XP?

I have an HD where it is installed a windows xp that don't boot anymore.
From that HD I have extracted all my old mails and files, but i can't
restore my email passwords and connection manager password. I tried many
password recovery tools, but unfortunatelly they work only if are installed
on the active operating system.
How to get over this inconvenient?

If you use Outlook, post your password question in an Outlook newsgroup.
If it is Outlook Express, try an Outlook Express newsgroup.
