How to recover deleted files? Any suggestions?

Hi, I've had some hard drive problems and want to attempt recovering some
files that may or may not be recoverable. Any suggestions as to what to do,
programs to use?

PowerQuest's Lost & Found v1.06 (last revision) is available here:

It has been abandoned by PQ who offered it as freeware for a period of time;
they no longer support the program.
