Hi,

How do I put a "password" on each Excel folder or Excel file?
So if someone tries to open an Excel file or folder, a password will be
prompted.
If the wrong password is entered, the Excel file will not open. Thanks.

SanJose39,

File/Save As
Select "Tools" (upper right corner of Dialog box)
Select "General"
Enter Passwords

John

Assuming the file has already been saved, use File|SaveAs
In XP click the Tools menu item in the Save dialog; slick the General Option
in the dropdown menu;enter a password is appropriate box.
In other versions the steps are a little different as I recall. If you
cannot find anything in Help with a search for 'file protection', get back
to us telling what version you use.

.
Do the following:
File
Save As
in this window before you hit save hit the Tools drop down
arrow (should be located upper right hand corner) and
choose general options, from there the Save Option box
should pop up

Open the file, click File-Save As, in the Save As box, in
the upper right hand corner is a drop down that
says "Tools". Click the drop down and select "General
Options". In the box that pops up, you can enter a
password to open and one to modify.
