After importing images into my web with FP 2000, when I select one in
the Folder List to drag onto a page, is there some way I can preview a
thumbnail of it simultaneously please?

Not in Folder List

Insert Picture (From File - stay in your current site) and set you dialog view options to Preview

Yes, thanks Stefan, I tried that option, but it's fairly long-winded.
Apart from 3 clicks (Insert, Picture, From File), you then need to
locate the name of the image. A lot slower than just dragging the file
straight onto the page. And as I've usually just dragged it in from an
image program (like ThumbsPlus or PaintShop Pro), it's galling to then
have to start locating files by name.

Is there perhaps a compromise alternative, such as via the route of
dragging the image straight into the page from the *external* source
please?

In FP2000 "dragging the image straight into the page from the *external*
source" is probably the worst thing you could do. When you save the page FP
will offer to save the images, and may apply extra compression in the
process - resulting in some degradation. This method also often (but not
always) results in images being referenced in the HTML as
src="file\\\c:\path\image.jpg" or similar.

Ron: Maybe I didn't phrase that as clearly as I should have. By
'compromise' and 'via the route of' I meant perhaps there was some way
to use that as a *starting point*. I do realise that you can't simply
do that alone. (Otherwise I wouldn't have posted my original enquiry!)

It's certainly a flaw in FP 2000 IMO that there's no thumbnail preview
possible from an image selected in the Folder List.

FWIW, meanwhile, to populate a table of thumbnails, I've opted to make
a spare row and drag 1 or more 'guesses' to it until I have the right
image. A *lot* quicker than using Insert menu.
