How to prevent a not booting system

I created a working configuration for a standard pc board, protected the
system drive with ewf and deployed it on a hard disk.
Everithing is working perfectly but if I occasionally delete some system
files (or the whole hard disk) like it can happen with viruses, the system
will not boot again (of course ...).
I know that while booting I can press F8 and restore the system drive
protected image, loosing all the changes, but letting the system operate as
if it was new, that's ok, I tried it and it also works perfectly.
The problem is that my system will not work with an attached keyboard and
the cpu board will be placed in not (easily) accessible positions.
So, if the system does not boot, for any reason (I talked abot a virus
before but it was just an example, I'm not looking for an anti virus
solution here), how can I restore it without accessing it, or how can I
prevent this situation ? Hardware failures are not contempled here of
course, I assume that the disk is always good and working.

I think that deploying on flash disks would not solve the problem, and boot
from network it is not a feasible solution for us.

Any ideas or suggestions ?

Thanks
Francesco

Hi Francesco,

Why would you need to press F8 in order to restore the system?
With EWF enabled I thought that all you need is to reboot the system and all
is fine again - that´s what I do (using EWF RAM / EWF RAM REG). Am I missing
something here??
If using the reset button is not allowed, maybe you could use watch dog
timer that will reset the computer on a system hang/crash (assuming your
machine has one, but most standard PC´s might not have one).

I´m also looking for a way to automatically reboot the system upon a crash,
but so far I haven´t succeeded... :-(

What I mean is that if the system gets so corrupted that it cannot
succesfully boot you can restore the whole system pressing F8 while the
loader is running.
EWF loader adds this extra possibility among the others usually present at
boot loader start up.

You are correct but if you want to persist system state you cannot use EWF
RAM.
In my first experiments I used EWF DISK but if I do not find a better way to
protect against system damage I will use EWF RAM as well.

Indeed my current motherboard do not have one but I will probably look for
one with a watch dog in the future.

This also was the object of one previous post of mine, but I had no answers
so probably it cannot be done.
Please post if you find a solution to this.

Thanks
Francesco
