how to play aac files

I recently downloaded AAC music files from itunes,
however, I can't get Windows Media Player to play the AAC
files. How can I get the Media Player to play these AAC
files?

QuickTime will convert AAC directly to MP3 - be aware
that when you do this, you will lose sound quality.
