How to pen the Find dialog box with a macro

How do I call up the Find dialog box in a macro and have the macro goto the
data requested in the find dialog?
I've tried recording a macro and going to Find on the Edit menu and also
CTRL F to bring up the diaog box but neither work.
Thanks for your assistance.
