I am getting a blue screen error which reboots the system
windows xp pro

how do i get the blue screen from rebooting so i can see the error?>

thanks,

Stopping computer rebooting when there is an error (Blue Screen)
The computer is configured to reboot on error. I'm assuming at some stage you
can get into Windows. I'm using WinXP Home so hopefully the system is similar as
I'm not familiar with Pro..

Control Panel>System
Advanced Tab
Startup and Recovery section
Settings button
Locate "Automatically Restart" checkbox. Uncheck it.
Then click OK, OK
Now it won't reboot so you can now read the screen.

Thanks,

Yes i was aware of that... but i cannot get into windows to change that
setting.

So i was just hoping there was a key i can hit or something in the recovery
console that can help me with finding the error.

I wonder why Microsoft would have this on by default... it's really stupid
to have an error cause the system to reboot, yet give you the option to see
the error, but not have it unchecked by default.

I think there next SP should have this unchecked, so that people won't
automatically think its a hardware problem, which I have seen happen alot.

thanks,

KJ
