How to optionally save sent messages in Outlook?

Lotus Notes had the option to ask if you want to save a sent message. Is
there such an option in Outlook? I can only find automatically save or don't
save. I need this ability to manage the storage size.
 
You can try turning off the automatic save and use the Rules Wizard to save
certain messages but there's no prompting option like in Notes

You can optionally save or not save by clicking View>Options in the compose
window and either enabling or disabling the saving of the sent item as
appropriate.
