I have received an e-mail from a trusted source that has an attachment with a
..wmz and also one ending in .mso.
I have reasearched it and ended up with knowledge base article 222330.
Is there a way to open this without using office 2000?
I am currently using office 2007beta, Windows xp sp2.

Ekka,

Assuming that you are sure the .wmz file is not a virus, try dragging just
the .wmz file to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Skins.
I'm using Windows Media Player 11 so I'm not sure if the folder arrangements
are the same in earlier versions.

Ekka,

I should have added that the other attachment just contains instructions for
Outlook 2000 to extract the .wmz to the correct folder. Since you are
manually extracting the .wmz & because you don't have Outlook 2000,
(see: http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=.mso&Search=Search ) there
is no need to extract this anywhere except the trash can, assuming you were
able to extract the .wmz file to the skins folder.

Files with *.wmz are Windows media player (compressed) skin files. Install
it in Windows Media Player.
I found this link here from Googling "wmz file extension":
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=WMZ

*.mso has something to do with Microsoft Outlook (I think). Read the page
here to see if it helps. http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=MSO

Otherwise, Google "MSO file extension" and "WMZ file extension" and read
some of the sites listed in the results.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think that the .wmz file is either corrupted
or incompatible with media player 11. I installed it in the skin folder and
get the message that wmp is unable to open it.
I think i will send it to a friend with wmp 10 and see if he has any luck.

Ekka,

Yeh, now that you mention it, there may be a limited number of skins that
currently work with WMP11.
