I made a backup of my emails of Outlook Express 6 to the CD. Now I want to
read the emails but it's not possible. The emails are in a CD mode
"outlook.pst". Size of the file is 187Mbyte. My computer system is Windows XP
service pack 2.
When I try to open the file I get a message "outlook.pst is not suitable for
a WIN32 applivcation" Also I can't import the files.
What I have to do I can read my old emails ?

Explain what you mean.
Outlook Express does not use PST files.
How did you actually create these files?

I have now a CD where I have 187 Mbyte outlook.pst files.
I suppose those pst files are my old emails I have received/send or not ?
How I can open the pst files ?

As Russ said Outlook Express DOES NOT use PST files! You CANNOT have
created a pst file in Outlook Express! Did you perhaps export the
Outlook Express mail to Outlook first?

I not sure about myself. I made a backup copy in my previous work. I just
want to open the outlook.pst file I have in my CD. How I can do it ?

Ahhh. In that case, you had Outlook (not Outlook EXPRESS - although the
two have similar names, they are in fact completely different programs)
at your previous work. Unfortunately, you cannot open pst files with
anything other than Outlook itself. If you don't have Outlook, then you
will need to either buy a copy (you can probably get copies of Office 97
or 2000 on Ebay pretty cheaply I would have thought), or find a nice
friend who has it and is willing to open your pst file and export it to
Outlook Express. You can then put the Outlook Express files onto a CD
and import them onto your machine. There MAY be a better way around
this, but if there is, I'm not aware of it.

PS - If you get REALLY REALLY stuck, I may be able to arrange for you to
upload the file to my website (do you have broadband?) and then I'll
convert it for you to Outlook Express files and send it back to the
website for you to download. (Can't do that though until *I* get
broadband, which should be on Friday)

Thank's Gordon for a good advice. You're right it was outlook. I have also
outlook 2000 but I don't use it I use outlook express 6. Do you think it's
possible use same account in outlook 2000 and outlook express same time or
what is the best way ?

Stick to what you like and know! As you have outlook 2000 it's dead
easy. Copy the pst file from the CD to your HDD, and remove the
read-only Attribute. (Right Click, Properties, and down at the bottom,
Attributes). Then open Outlook, go to File-Open-Outlook Data File and
navigate to where you copied the pst file to. Then open OE, and to to
File-Import and follow the instructions. After the import is done, you
can delete the pst file (after closing Outlook) and use OE!

For Outlook 2000, that's File>Open>Personal Folders File
navigate to where you copied the pst file to.

The PST also has to be the default delivery location before Outlook Express
will be able to see it in Outlook.
