Firstly my cd drive reads like this: cd-rw drive (D:) I can play music on my
system and even open cd-rw. But when I try to burn to a cd-r disc, nothing
happens. I get a message stating that the the drive is invalid. This
happens when I try to open a blank cd-r also. I cannot re-install my system
because it did not come with an installation cd. Can anyone out there help
me. I don't know if I did anything wrong when I installed two programs on my
system. One was Ahead Nero and the other In-CD. I tried un-installing those
two programs many times but yet the cd-rw drive remains. System restore is
not helping either. Help!

From a NERO readme...

[[Go to your Windows Explorer or My Computer and right click on your
Recorders drive letter, and then go to the "Recorder" Tab and in that window
disable the option for "Enable Recording on this Drive".]]

Try typing in run:diskmgmt.msc In msc, locate and L.click on the drive,
then go up to actions, all, make active.Once its changed and shows in my
computer,
you'll need to go to run, type:regedit In regedit,expand:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,
software,microsoft,windows,open set-up,or source path,locate the cdrom or
rw,L.click, then go to edit, change to the same letter as it shows in my
computer,
if not correct, then close out regedit.
