Jim:
In addition to the other suggestions you've received, may I suggest another
program, for your consideration - the ABF Outlook Express Backup program.
See
http://www.abf-soft.com/outlook-express-backup.shtml. Of course, if you're
exclusively interested in using only your network facility to effect a
one-time transfer, then the program I'm recommending would not be practical.
It's a wonderful program, extremely simple to learn and use and quite
effective as an OE backup/transfer program. (You didn't say, but I assume
you and your wife are using Outlook Express as your mail program). Not only
does it backup your mail folders, but your Address Book, OE settings, Rules,
Blocked Senders, Stationeries, and even your Favorites. And it does so
simply and quickly. But it's not a freebie. It's $29.95. A 30-day evaluation
version is available so I would suggest you try it out, even if you have
initial qualms about purchasing this type of product.
We've been using this program for nearly two years now and we find it
indispensable for backing up and transferring the OE mail program to another
computer. We've been recommending it to our customers. There's no "learning
curve" to speak of and it does the job it's supposed to do. So far every
update to the program (there have been quite a few) is free to download. So
by all means give it a try.
