Hi,

Our LAN is part of global 2000 domain called MAX. We have T1 to headquarter.
There is a MAX DC on our site. Of course MAX has a couple of DCs all over
the world. But one thing I don't understand, if the DC in headquarter is
down for whatever the reason, we couldn't login to MAX domain even we have
one DC over in our office.
I've checked the settings on our DC, global catelog is checked. Don't know
what else to check. Please help.

Thanks for any idea,
Sarah

Whats about the DNS Service? Is there also a backup?

What are the clients? If they are downlevel eg NT or less, then they
will need to contact the PDC Emulator.

All our clients are windows 2000 pro with sp4, and if I'm trying to login
the MAX domain while the domain is down, login progress is taking forever,
after an hour I got my profile, but that's not right, we have a DC over in
our office, it's been looking for the remote one.

What happens when you try to login?

Sarah, where does your *profile* reside? Are you using roaming
profiles? Is your site a properly set up site in Max? (Please excuse
the questions if they have been asked and answered before).

Cheers,

Cliff

My profile resides on my local computer, nobody's profile resides on server.
I'm not sure about site setup, the only I can see is that Max is global
catelog in site settings, other than that I have no idea on how to check it
out. Would you please help me with this?

Appreicate your reply,

Sarah
