I am trying to tell windows explorer to list the files in
the order of the date which they were modified. How do
you do this? I can off course get explorer in the list
details mode to list the date each "celebrate Life" file
was modified. But it does so in random order. I want it
the list them in chronilogical order. That way I can go
to a particular month and look at all files that were
modified in June say. Can you help me list my files in
chronalogical order within windows explorer?

right-click the title bar with "name" and find listing.
the "more" at bottom lets you arrange items.
use the little triangle in title bar for changing order.

Set the date modifed column to show and click the column to sort ascending
or decending.
Then use the right click, arrange icons by, show in groups option.

Then click in the Header where it says Modified, and it will sort on
that column. Click again and the order will reverse, so you can have
either oldest or newest at the top
