How to limit the number of instances of an opened file?

Hi, Everyone!

I want a certain file to be opened by a certain program in only one
instance. How do I limit the number of instances of a file?

No way since the software developer decides if the program may or may not
open one instance only. However, some programs (eg. MS Office) allow for
that setting within their options.
