Hi! I have a new comuter, but I don't have microsoft word on it. Can I
install it somewhere??
It isn't free. If you buy a computer that has Office or Works Suite bundled
with it, you've paid for the license as part of the cost of the computer. If
it wasn't bundled, you have to buy it separately.
If you're a student, a teacher, or a family member of one (which covers
probably 90% of everybody), you can buy the Student & Teacher Edition; or
you can buy Works Suite -- not just Works -- which includes Word. These are
currently the least expensive (legal) ways to get Microsoft Word.
If you can't or don't want to spend money, you can download the free
OpenOffice (
http://www.openoffice.org). The word processor in this package
will open and save Word documents. It isn't as full-featured, but that may
not matter to you.
