Here's my situation:
1. Installed XP Pro on a 550MHz sys a week ago w/clean install
2. Installation took 2 days
3. Updated XP Pro
4. Encountered several unresolved problems installing Verizon DSL
5. Decided to build a more state of the art sys w/Intel D925XCV Motherboard
6. Expect to receive all new components prior to end of grace period to
activate

What do I need to do to successfully install XP Pro on my new sys before OR
after the grace period for activation expires?

If you do a clean installation on your new computer, the "grace" period
restarts.

If you retain your current hard drive with Windows XP installed, you will
need to do a repair installation to configure Windows XP for your new
motherboard etc. I am not sure that a repair installation will restart the
grace period or not. If not, Windows Help and Support says:

"You have a 30-day grace period in which to activate your Windows product
installation. If the grace period expires and you have not completed
activation, all features of Windows XP except the product activation feature
will stop working."

I which case, just activate.

Addition.

"3. Updated XP Pro"

By the time you get back, SP-2 should be available on Windows Update. You
need to install SP-2. However, SP-2 includes SP-1, so you will not need to
reupdate with SP-1.
