I like to have the most recent directx when I prepare for system imaging.
So, where do I extract the single downloaded file, and how do I install it?

Its already included when you install Service Pack 2
for Windows XP.

Of course it is. But I´m refering to the latest "directx_jun2006_redist.exe"
wich is recommended for users that do not have internet connection during
installation.

I don´t like connecting a computer to a network while I´m preparing it´s
system image.
It will include new games who require new installation of directx. I would
rather prefer to install it myself , instead of letting them run it, as it
makes me uncertain of what they really are doing - install it in proper
order, or making a mess of it.

So thats because I prefer to install it before I install new games for my
image.

What I have done previously with a directx redist is to extract it to the
Temp folder, and then run the .exe
But what concerns me, is if that is the right method. Because when I have
done that no new files show up in directx tool window. Or is that normal?
